SCDPS REPORTS NINE KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
FEBRUARY 24 - FEBRUARY 26, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, February 24, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 26, at midnight.

As of February 26, 2017, 136 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 135 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 107 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 57 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight February 26, 15 pedestrians died compared to 17 in 2016; eight motorcyclists died compared to 14 in 2016; and two bicyclists died compared to five in 2016 on state roads and highways.
