SCDPS REPORTS FOUR KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
MARCH 31 – APRIL 2, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 31, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 2, at midnight.

As of April 2, 2017, 222 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 241 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 165 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 84 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight April 2, 31 pedestrians died compared to 32 in 2016; 16 motorcyclists died compared to 27 in 2016; and five bicyclists died compared to eight in 2016 on state roads and highways.
