SCDPS REPORTS 10 KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
MAY 5 – MAY 7, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, May 5, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 7, at midnight.

As of May 7, 2017, 326 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 326 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 231 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 112 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight May 7, 46 pedestrians died compared to 42 in 2016; 34 motorcyclists died compared to 46 in 2016; and seven bicyclists died compared to ten in 2016 on state roads and highways.
