SCDPS REPORTS 10 KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
MAY 19 – MAY 21, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 21, at midnight.

As of May 21, 2017, 375 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 366 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 272 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 127 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight May 21, 48 pedestrians died compared to 47 in 2016; 40 motorcyclists died compared to 48 in 2016; and eight bicyclists died compared to 11 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
