SCDPS REPORTS EIGHT KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

JUNE 16 – JUNE 18, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, June 16, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 18, at midnight.

As of June 18, 2017, 462 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 457 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 332 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 157 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight June 18, 64 pedestrians died compared to 57 in 2016; 47 motorcyclists died compared to 62 in 2016; and eight bicyclists died compared to 13 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
