SCDPS REPORTS FIVE KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

JUNE 23 – JUNE 25, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, June 23, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 25, at midnight.

As of June 25, 2017, 468 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 478 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 336 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 158 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight June 25, 65 pedestrians died compared to 61 in 2016; 48 motorcyclists died compared to 65 in 2016; and eight bicyclists died compared to 13 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
