SCDPS REPORTS FOUR KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

JULY 21 – JULY 23, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, July 21, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, July 23, at midnight.

As of July 23, 2017, 538 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 550 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 387 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 185 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight July 23, 70 pedestrians died compared to 75 in 2016; 56 motorcyclists died compared to 80 in 2016; and 11 bicyclists died compared to 13 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
