SCDPS REPORTS TEN KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

OCTOBER 6 – OCTOBER 8, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 6, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 8, at midnight.

As of October 8, 740 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 774 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 506 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 249 were not wearing seat belts.

 

Through midnight October 8, 104 pedestrians have died compared to 110 in 2016; 93 motorcyclists have died compared to 114 in 2016; and 14 bicyclists have died compared to 21 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
