Jack, 32, was one of a kind. There will never be another Jack like him. He was the most kind, gentle, loving man I (his wife, Mary) have ever known.

Jack always has a beautiful smile, and no matter how bad a day he was having, he always smiled. He was funny and knew how to make you laugh. You could be having a horrible day and Jack would always make it better. Jack loved racing and working on his Dad's (Bobby) race car. He was always there when needed. Jack was bright and full of life. He never met a stranger because everyone loved him.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his daughter (Samantha, 5 yrs old) and family. Samantha was his heart and she will miss him very much. Jack's Mom (Diane) and Dad (Bobby) love and miss him very much.

Jack had a lot of respect for them, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them or anyone else and never expected anything in return. I got to share the last year and a half of his life with him. Five months of that was as his wife, but I love him more than he will ever know and I miss him dearly.

He was the light of my life, my knight in shining armour. Jack was the best son, husband, father, and stepfather anyone could have ever wanted. He was the best friend that you could have ever had.

We all (his family) still have a hard time understanding why this tragedy had to happen, but we do know he is in a better place. We will be with him again one day.

To know how much he was loved by everyone, there was about 600 people at the funeral home during friends and family night, and even some of them didn't get to see him.

Everyone knows that Jack will always be in their hearts, just as he is in mine (his wife Mary), Mom (Diane), Dad (Bobby), Daughter (Samantha), Brother (Joey), Stepdaughters (April & Brittany Payton), Grandmothers (Beactrice BoBo & Dorothy Reeder), Aunt (Maria), and Uncle (Warren). The list could go on and on, but I would run out of room. Jack's stepdaughter wrote a poem, and I would like to share it with you.

STRIPES OF HEAVEN
IT ALL HAPPENED ALL SO FAST
BUT HE ALWAYS HAS SOME SPECIAL TASK
RACING AND WORKING ON HILDA
YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S GONE KILL YA TILL IT DOES
AND WE CAN'T BELIEVE IT
AS GOD WAVED THEM CHECKERED FLAGS
A NEW TIME TO DRIVE
AS HIS FANS AND FAMILY SOON WILL ARRIVE
HE'LL BE WORKING ON GOD'S RACE CAR
SEEING THE STRIPED CHECKERED DOOR AS HE REACHED HEAVEN
A BETTER PLACE WITHOUT ANY SUFFERING
HIS THREE LITTLE MUDSCRAPERS THERE BY HIS SIDE
ME, SAM, AND BRITTANY
A TIME TO ENJOY AND FLY WITH WINGS
HEAVEN'S DOORS ARE WAITING
YOU'VE WON THE RACE WHEN YOU REACH THOSE GOLDEN GATES
A BETTER PLACE TO SIGH
AS YOU WILL SEE THEM BLACK AND WHITE FLAGS GO BY

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JACK
